Mid-Year Realignment

Before You Set Another Goal, Read This

Somewhere around June, people start doing one of two things.

They're either:

  • Panicking because they haven't accomplished enough.

  • Exhausted because they've accomplished a lot and still don't feel satisfied.

Neither response is uncommon.

We live in a culture that constantly asks,

"What's next?"

The problem is that many of us never stop long enough to ask: "How am I actually doing? Not:

How productive am I?

How much money have I made?

How many boxes have I checked?

How am I doing emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually, and relationally?

Because success can hide a lot.

You can be meeting deadlines while ignoring your anxiety, taking care of everyone else while neglecting yourself, and achieving goals while quietly burning out.

A mid-year check-in allows you to gather information.

The same way a doctor checks your vitals before recommending treatment, you need to understand where you are before deciding where you're going next.

Instead of asking:

"What haven't I accomplished?"

Try asking:

  • What am I proud of?

  • What has been harder than I expected?

  • What am I carrying that I no longer need?

  • What has been giving me life?

  • What needs more attention in the second half of the year?

You don't need to overhaul your entire life this month.

You just need enough honesty to recognize what's working and what isn't.

Progress isn't always about doing more.

Sometimes it's about doing less of what keeps draining you.
