FLORIDA CLINICAL SUPERVISION

Become the therapist you’re working toward.

Supervision should be more than checking boxes and counting hours. It's a space to strengthen your clinical thinking, develop confidence in your decisions, work through the complicated parts of the job, and begin defining who you are as a clinician.

Grow your skills. Find your clinical voice.

Qualified Supervision for Florida Registered Clinical Social Work Interns

MY APPROACH TO SUPERVISION

You’re learning how to think like a clinician.

Casual Group Discussion

My role as a supervisor isn't to create clinicians who practice exactly the way I do. It's to help you develop the knowledge, judgment, confidence, and self-awareness to make thoughtful clinical decisions of your own.

We'll talk about the work, the cases that have you second-guessing yourself, ethical questions, documentation, boundaries, interventions, and the moments when what you learned in school doesn't quite match what's happening in the room.

We'll also make space for you as the clinician: your reactions, your strengths, your growing edges, and the kind of therapist you're becoming.

There is room here to ask the question you think you're supposed to already know the answer to.

WHAT WE WORK ON

The stuff they don't always teach you in school.

01 — Clinical Decision-Making

Move beyond “What intervention should I use?” toward understanding why, when, and how you're making clinical choices

04 — Documentation

Strengthen your ability to document the clinical work clearly, appropriately, and with intention.

02 — Case Conceptualization

Learn to see the whole person rather than a collection of symptoms, diagnoses, or treatment-plan objectives.

05 — Therapeutic Skills

Explore interventions, difficult sessions, ruptures, resistance, silence, and those What in the world do I say now?moments.

03 — Ethics & Boundaries

Work through the gray areas, competing responsibilities, and situations that aren't solved by simply quoting an ethics code.

06 — Your Professional Identity

Develop your own therapeutic style, recognize your strengths, understand your limitations, and build confidence in the clinician you're becoming.

MORE THAN SUPERVISION

A place to grow before you practice on your own.

Stafford Counseling & Consulting is committed to creating space for developing clinicians to learn, practice, ask questions, and grow within a supportive clinical environment.

For some registered interns, that may mean supervision alone. For others, opportunities within the practice may provide additional exposure to the realities of clinical work, professional development, and building a sustainable career in behavioral health.

Think of it as a clinical incubator.

A place to develop your skills and professional identity with support before stepping fully into independent practice.

Katie Stafford, LCSW, QS

I'm a licensed clinical social worker, Florida Qualified Supervisor, and founder of Stafford Counseling & Consulting. In addition to my clinical work, I support developing social workers as they build clinical judgment, strengthen their skills, and work toward independent licensure in Florida.

My clinical work is informed by approaches including CBT, ACT, IFS-informed work, mindfulness, and other interventions selected according to the needs of the person in front of me. That same flexibility carries into supervision. I'm less interested in teaching you to practice exactly like I do and more interested in helping you understand why you're making the clinical decisions you're making.

I want supervision to be a place where you can bring the complicated case, admit when you're unsure, think critically, receive feedback, and gradually need me a little less as your own clinical judgment gets stronger.

INTERESTED IN SUPERVISION IN FLORIDA?

Let's see if we're a good fit.

The supervisor you choose will be part of a pretty important season of your professional development. Before making that decision, let's talk.

We'll discuss where you are in the licensure process, what you're looking for in a supervisor, how you learn best, and what you hope to get from supervision. You'll also have a chance to ask questions about my approach and expectations.

The goal isn't to convince you to choose me. It's to figure out whether this is the right supervision relationship for both of us.
